Tuesday of the Eighteenth Week in Ordinary Time ‘a’

We are all very familiar with the story from today’s gospel in which Jesus walks on the sea and invites Peter to join him. And so, Peter does for a moment but only when the water is calm and still. However, when a strong wind came, he lost his faith and began to drown. Lord, save me -- Peter screamed. “Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him.” Aren’t we like Peter sometimes? When everything in life goes well, we keep that strong faith; but when things become more difficult and challenging, we start questioning God’s presence and become doubtful. But no matter if we doubt, if we sin, if we make bad decisions, or when we get lost in life. No matter what waves come our way or how strong the wind is, we can always repeat after Peter – Lord, save me, and then immediately Jesus will stretch out his hand and catch you.
