“A demoniac who could not speak was brought to Jesus, and when the demon was driven out the mute man spoke. The crowds were amazed and said, ‘Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.’” People were in awe when they saw the goodness of the Lord. They were not only amazed by His extraordinary power, but also by His goodness that He expressed to those who were sick, mute, blind, those who were poor, rejected, hungry, and to sinners. Jesus embraced everyone who needed His help. We don’t have an extraordinary power to drive out demons, to cure the sick, and raise the dead like Jesus did, but we are His disciples with the same mission entrusted to us. We are his hands in today’s world. So, in a similar way, we must spread the same love and goodness toward another person. “At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd.”
