Today, Jesus is announcing to His disciples that He is going back to His Father. His mission here on earth has been accomplished, now that mission is being entrusted to the apostles, along with everything they need to be successful is the Holy Spirit. They needed that Spirit to be able to carry that mission and shed their blood for Jesus. This reminds me that we all are called to continue that mission started by Our Lord. Jesus, who is God, came to this world in a human nature, to show us how the life of a baptized should look. Then His disciples carried that mission, and they too left this world, and many others before us. We will leave this world, just like Jesus, to go to the Father. For now, we are called to show to this world the love of Christ. This is our time, before we leave.
