Tuesday of the Sixth Week of Easter ‘a’

Jesus said to his disciples: “Now I am going to the one who sent me, and not one of you asks me, 'Where are you going?' But because I told you this, grief has filled your hearts. But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go.” We all know what happened with the disciples after Jesus ascended into heaven -- they got scared, confused, and they didn’t know what to do. They needed the promised Advocate, the Holy Spirit, to enable them to leave their comfort zone and courageously go into the world and proclaim the Gospel. Sometimes we are like those disciples, confused maybe even scared to testify about Jesus, to tell others about Him, to defend our faith, to speak openly about our faith. If so, we need to ask for the Holy Spirit. We need to ask for His gifts of wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. Christ didn’t leave us alone, He sent us the same Advocate that He sent to His disciples.
