Tuesday of the Tenth Week in Ordinary Time ‘b’

Jesus said to His disciples: “You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house.” So, each disciple of Jesus must give light to all in the house. What does that mean? It literally means that we are here to cheer others up, to bring joy to others, to comfort those who are sad and are grieving. Sadly, too many of us Catholics forgot about that, forgot about the fact that at the day of our baptism we received the light of Christ. A light of holiness, but also a light of joy and a light of discipleship -- and that light must be kept burning brightly throughout our lives. Reflect today upon this truth, think about yourself and about what kind of light are you bringing to the world. Are you filled with love, hope and charity? Do you give light to all in the house?
