Tuesday of the Third Week of Lent ‘b’

In the gospel of St. Matthew, we read: “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” So, in other words, if we want to be treated by others with love and respect, we need to treat other people that same way. Today in the gospel reading, Peter asks Jesus how many times we should forgive - as many as seven times? And Jesus responds: “I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times.” In other words, we should always forgive others. Why? Because God will always forgive you and me. Yes, we expect God to treat us in a certain way - to forgive us always because we always sin, to love us, to be there for us, and to save us. And if we expect to be treated that way by God, we must treat others the same way.
