Tuesday of the Thirty Fourth Week in Ordinary Time ‘a’

How to prepare for the end of the world? Some will tell you: go to the top of a mountain, some will advise you to store enough food, water, and supplies. The end of the world will come, but when? We have no idea. But according to what Jesus said in the gospel today, there will be many that will try to predict it and to deceive us. Do not listen, and do not follow them, Jesus said. However, Jesus warns us that the best preparation we can make is our spiritual preparation. Whenever that time comes, we won’t be able to save this world nor ourselves. We can only save our souls. How? Let’s go back to the gospel reading from last Sunday when Jesus said: “Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for me.” When we are able to recognize Jesus in our brothers and sisters in need and to then serve them, that’s how we will be prepared for the end. There is no better preparation.
