Wednesday in the 3 week in ordinary time ‘c’

Writer's picture: Fr. KrisFr. Kris

I have always liked the parable from today’s Gospel about the sower and the seeds, and I take it very personally. It is clear to me that Jesus used this parable to explain that there are different types of people who hear His word. Some will just ignore it; some will be excited for a short period of time and then forget about them; some will get too busy in their lives and forget about what they have heard. But there also will be those who will take the words into their hearts and bring them to others. However, when I read it, I am reminded of those moments in my life when I was very excited about my faith, but that excitement wore off quickly. Makes me remember the moments when temptations become stronger and I failed, or of the moments when I was too weak to admit that I know Christ. It reminds me that I always need to ask Jesus to help me to grow in my relationship with God and with others. “It came up and grew and yielded thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold.”
