There are people who don’t have enough to eat, people who are going to bed hungry. There are also people who have more than enough and end up wasting their food. I have been blessed with always having enough food, but sometimes I order too much or buy too much, and it also goes to waste. This is a very powerful story in the Gospel for today. Before Jesus multiplies the bread for the hungry crowd, first He gave thanks for it. The, after they were satisfied, Jesus even asked them to pick up any fragments left over so the food wouldn’t get wasted. I always have to remember that the food I have is indeed a blessing from God, so I need to be thankful for it, and I should always try to respect it and not let it go to waste.
