Wednesday of the 29 week in ordinary time

Writer's picture: Fr. KrisFr. Kris

Someone once said that if we knew the exact time of our death, we would probably spend our last weeks or even days to prepare ourselves for dying. Think about it, if you knew that you would die in 100 days, you would probably waste 90 days and start preparing yourselves in the last few days. Many in our time have tried to predict the end of the world, but never got it right. Jesus wants us to be prepared at all times. We don’t know when we will meet Him, maybe today, maybe tomorrow, maybe 20 or 60 years from now – we just don’t know. That’s why we should live our lives like we were about to meet Jesus at each moment. What does it mean to be prepared? For me it means being able to say ‘I’m sorry’ to someone that I may have hurt. It means to pray often, to be humble, be peaceful, be charitable and also to participate often in the Church’s sacraments, especially in the Eucharist and in reconciliation. Be ready, “for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.”
