Wednesday of the 3 week in Advent ‘c’
It is not about words and declarations but about doing the will of the Father. Jesus clearly shows us this in the Gospel reading for today when some of John’s disciples asked Him: “Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?” What did Jesus say? No, He didn’t tell them ‘Yes, it is I’. Instead, He said: “Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind regain their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the good news proclaimed to them.” This is exactly what all of us Christians should learn from Jesus -- it is not about our declarations that we are Christians, it is not about the religious symbols that we are wearing, and not about religious posters in your front yard, but it is about action. It is about going and doing God’s will. That’s how others will see Christ in you and me.
