Why did Jesus speak in parables? So His listeners could understand Him and get the message He was sharing -- we all know that. I don’t know about you, but if I browse around on the Internet, or I read the newspapers, I usually focus my attention on the articles with a nice layout, nice colors on the page, and an attractive- eye catching picture. Even on the social media, I don’t read long texts, but check the posts with something that is attractive to my eye, mostly nice photography. In Jesus’ time, there was no Internet, no social media, no magazines, but He wanted to have His message very attractive so it would catch people’s attention. And Jesus was an expert in that. He knew how to do it well. We can learn from Jesus that when we speak to others about our faith, religion, or about Jesus Himself, we don’t need long theological explanations, but rather use the parables of our lives. I am sure that would attract others to Jesus.
