Do you read the Bible or mainly only listen to the readings during Sunday masses? And if you read or listen to them, do you have your favorite parts of the Bible? Is it a particular Gospel or some books of the Old Testament? I like the New Testament. I like the epistles and the Gospels because in my opinion they are easier to understand and easier to follow. Sometimes, I would think, why do we still read the Old Testament since we have Jesus now. He brought us a new law, a new commandment. How wrong is that! The Old Testament is as important as the New. Jesus is a fulfillment of the law. He is the continuation, the explanation of the will of God. And He reminds me clearly today in the reading: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.”
