Long Gospel for today, but I just want to focus on the first words of the Gospel: “While people were listening to Jesus speak.” Notice, people were listening. This part of the Gospel reading today caught my attention. Jesus speaks, but do we listen? He has so much to tell us today and every day, but do we listen to Him? Maybe instead of talking to Him, asking Him for things that we want or that we think we need, we should stop for a moment and listen to Him. Jesus has always something important to tell us, but we can’t hear Him because we are too busy in our lives and we talk too much, so we tend to forget how to listen to Him. Jesus, teach me to take a moment and listen to your voice; I know there is something you want to tell me today.
