Wednesday of the 33 week in ordinary time ‘b’
Jesus said: “I tell you, to everyone who has, more will be given, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.” How unjust is that, right? Didn’t Jesus say that the Kingdom of God belongs to the poor and humble? So, how come now he says that those who have will get even more, and those who have little, even that will be taken away from them? Obviously, Jesus isn’t referring here to the things of this world. He doesn’t talk about money but about the gifts of the Holy Spirit that we must multiply, and which we must use for the good of others and for our own growth, but never keep them just for ourselves. If we don’t take advantage of these beautiful gifts that we have received, then they will be taken away from us. So, let us enrich this world with wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety and fear of the Lord.
