We spend money on insurance for our health, life, house, car, and for many other things. We buy an extra warranty on products; we save money for our retirement and for our children’s education. We do these things because we want to secure our future. But that takes care only of the future here in this world, but how about securing our eternal future? What do we do for that because it is far more important than anything in this world? We may be surprised with the bold questions that James and John, two of Zebedee’s sons, asked Jesus. They wanted Him to secure for them a place in glory with Him in Heaven, one on the right and the other on the left of Him. And maybe for some this request seems a little selfish, but I think that both of them were simply thinking about securing their future in life eternal, and there is nothing wrong with that. We too need to not only take care of the future here on earth, but of our eternal future as well.
