Wednesday of the Eleventh Week in Ordinary time ‘c’

Writer's picture: Fr. KrisFr. Kris

Why do you pray? Why do you share with others? Why do you fast? It seems that for Jesus those are important questions, since we are asked to do that but for a certain reason- for the love of God and our neighbor, nothing else. So, if you fast, because you want to lose some weight, you are doing that only for your own selfish purpose. If you pray because you only want to fulfill your religious obligations, without paying attention to God’s presence, then again, you do that only for your own purpose. Then when you give to others or support charity programs, and then share on social media, how generous you are, you not doing that for others but only for your own gain. Why do you do those things? For your own satisfaction or out of love for God and another person? “And your Father who sees in secret will repay you.”
