Fr. Kris
Wednesday of the Fourth Week of Advent ‘a’
Two holy women are rejoicing because they received a marvelous favor from God. Mary -- because she became the Mother of God, and Elizabeth -- who in her old age was able to conceive the one who would prepare the way for the Messiah. They are simply happy and thankful to God for all His blessings. Could Elizabeth be a little envious that not her, but Mary’s Son is also God’s Son? Perhaps she could. There are times when we compare ourselves to others and become envious of what they have, or that they have received more blessings than I. From this beautiful and full-of-joy encounter of these two holy women, we learn that we need to be thankful and rejoice in what we have. Even if our life is difficult, we should focus on the blessings that are happening in our lives. We should be joyful because we have God who became one of us.
