In today’s gospel reading, you will find one of the most beautiful prayers that Jesus spoke to His Father in Heaven. Jesus is praying for His disciples. But He doesn’t ask for them to be safe, nor to be healthy, nor famous and powerful. No. Jesus prayed for the disciples by asking God to keep them away from the Evil One, to keep them united. Jesus asked God to consecrate them in truth. I believe that this is also a prayer for all of us, those who are Jesus’ disciples now. We don’t belong to this world; we belong to God. For now, we must continue the same mission that was started by the Lord and His disciples: “as you sent me into the world, so I sent them into the world.” Let us often ask God to keep us away from the Evil One, to keep us united, and that we always profess the truth.
