I am not sure about you, but it happens to me every so often that after reading a page or a chapter of a book, I realize that I don’t know what I was reading about. My mind was somewhere else, and I wasn’t paying attention to the words I had just read. Sometimes that may happen when you watch a movie. So, if that happens, you would either go back and read/watch again, or else you just wasted some time. You know that this may also happen during the Holy Mass -- you can either be receptive and then blessed and enriched with the word of God and the Eucharist, or you just waste an hour of your time. During mass God wants to speak to you and feed you. However, we need to be open to receive what He is offering us. It is up to you and me whether we receive God’s gifts, and then those holy gifts could produce fruits in our lives, or we wasted the time by coming to mass. We end up by thinking about something else, checking the phone, reading something. God wants us to be open and receptive to His word. “But some seed fell on rich soil, and produced fruit, a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold. Whoever has ears ought to hear.” Only some!
