Whenever you are starting a new career, or when you go to a new school, you would learn very quickly what expectations that you would have to meet in order to keep that job and be successful. You cannot say later: Oh, I didn’t know this was my responsibility, I didn’t know that this was expected from me too. Today Jesus reminds us of what expectations and what consequences we will face if we choose to be His disciple and follow Him. It won’t be easy, He says, so make your decision now -- you can either fully, one hundred percent, dedicate yourself to me, or you can refuse to be my disciple. We have a choice, and we must make that decision.
