Wednesday of the Twenty Eighth Week in Ordinary Time ‘b’

Writer's picture: Fr. KrisFr. Kris

We are called to speak the truth and only truth. Why? Because we are Jesus’s disciples in this world and Jesus always spoke the truth, even if that truth caused pain to those who listened to Him. But even today, there are people who leave the church angry because the priest or deacon touched on a subject which made the person feel uncomfortable. We don’t do that to hurt anyone, but to invite others to reflect on their lives, to convert them, to leave behind any sinful way of living and to follow the Lord. We hear today how the scholars of the law were offended by Jesus’ teaching: “Teacher, by saying this you are insulting us too.” Jesus did not apologize, He didn’t say ‘I am sorry, I didn’t mean that’. Instead, he continued speaking the truth.
