Wednesday of the Twenty Fourth Week in Ordinary time ‘b’

It is hard to please people; it is hard to please us. Look at our Catholic Church for example. There are some of us who don’t like the way the Church is today. They prefer that it be more traditional, just like it used to be before the Second Vatican Council. But there are also those of us who don’t like the Church to be ‘too conservative’ and would say that the Church should be more progressive, more open, more liberal. It is like in your parish that you belong to - you may love the music, but another parishioner does not like it at all. Or you may not like the way your pastor celebrates the liturgy and preaches, but another person really enjoys it. We all are different, and nothing wrong with that. However, that does not give us the right to complain all the time. Instead, we should always be thankful for what we have, keeping in mind that there is no way we all will be pleased and satisfied at the same time. Jesus said: “To what shall I compare the people of this generation? What are they like? They are like children who sit in the marketplace and call to one another, ‘We played the flute for you, but you did not dance. We sang a dirge, but you did not weep.’”
