As a priest I have been called to come to a dying person with the sacrament of anointing. Unfortunately, many of us still think that the anointing of the sick is the sacrament for the dying and that the priest should come only while the person is in danger of death. That’s why there are times when a priest arrives too late. We need to understand that the sacrament of anointing is not the last sacrament, nor only the sacrament for a dying person. It is a sacrament of healing. So, anyone who is not well physically or spiritually can ask for the sacrament of anointing. And this sacrament can be received many times in a lifetime. So don’t wait for the last moment for your relative or for yourself. If you think that you need to be healed, ask for this wonderful sacrament. “At sunset, all who had people sick with various diseases brought them to him. Jesus laid his hands on each of them and cured them.”
