There are hundreds of books written about prayer. Many spiritual authors try to help us in our spiritual relationship with God. They teach us how to talk to Him, how to listen, what to ask for. And even though you have been praying all your life, there are times when you struggle with praying. There are times when your lips recite the prayer but your mind wonders somewhere else. So, what to do in order to improve my prayer? What is the best book to read or who is the best teacher? The answer is very clear and can be found in the gospel reading today. One of Jesus’ disciples must have been struggling with his prayer and he wasn’t afraid to ask Jesus to teach Him how to pray. He knew that Jesus in an expert in praying- “Lord teach us to pray.” Just like that disciple, when we encounter any difficulties in prayer we simply need to ask Jesus -- teach me how to pray. Make my prayer better.
