I must admit that I very easily get distracted during my prayers. Quite often when I pray, my lips are whispering the words, but my mind is wandering somewhere else. And I know that you too, at times, struggle with that. Many times, people come to me and ask how to pray so I won’t become distracted? For me personally what always works is when I use my own words instead of repeating the prayers that I memorized years ago. Those prayers are beautiful and powerful, and we need to use them. However, in moments of distraction, it is helpful to just speak your own words and then listen to the Lord. And then, just like that disciple we must ask Jesus: “Lord, teach us to pray.” Lord- help me with my prayers; I need you to lead me, guide me and teach me.
