“Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news of him spread throughout the whole region. He taught in their synagogues and was praised by all.” However, we know what happened later. They stopped being happy and praising Him; they wanted to get rid of Him. Why? First, they knew Him too well, at least they thought they did, since Jesus grew up with them and they couldn’t stand the fact that He called Himself the son of God. And secondly, because He was telling them the truth and calling them to conversion. Doesn’t that happen to us especially when we are welcoming Christ during the Christmas season, praising Him, singing Christmas carols, being joyful, and attending church that one time during the year. But then when Jesus calls us to repentance, to the service of others, to loving God and neighbor, to give good example, and to live morally good lives, then we would rather avoid Him, or get rid of Him, because His teaching is too difficult to accept. If you accept Jesus, you need to accept all His teachings, even if it seems too difficult.
