All Souls Day (Monday of the 31 week in ordinary time)

God loves us! How many times have you heard this before? God loves you, God loves me, God loves all of us – the good and sinners alike. We repeat this statement or hear it so many times that sometimes it loses its meaning. It’s like saying I love you to your spouse or child, without even thinking what those words mean. Today’s Gospel reading for the memorial of all the Faithful Departed reminds us once again that God Loves us, that He races after us and He doesn’t want to lose us. Yes, we all agree that the times we live in are challenging, and sometimes we feel like God has abandoned us. But today we are reminded that this is not true. Jesus tells us today: “And this is the will of the one who sent me, that I should not lose anything of what he gave me, but that I should raise it on the last day.” I don’t know how about you, but these words give me so much comfort and hope, that all of these difficulties of life will pass and there will only be happiness.
