“Jesus said to his disciples: Hear the parable of the sower.” Jesus knows how to make His preaching interesting; He knows what to do in order to have the people not only listen but also understand. So, what does He do? He provides wonderful images, He gives examples, He paints a picture using words because He knows that this is the best way to get the listener’s attention and to get the most important message through to them by parables. Jesus spoke with many parables and these parables are like the images that stay in the memory for a long time. We too don’t want to attend mass and listen to long homilies without anything that grasps our attention. In a couple hours we will forget what the homily was about. There is so much that we can learn from Jesus and today we learn that good stories are very helpful.
