If I only had the power that Jesus has… Have you ever thought about that? I sometimes do. And sometimes I wonder whether if Jesus ever said to me that if I did have a strong faith, then I could do anything. Perhaps I could heal the sick, bring the dead to life, cast out demons, turn water into wine. But I can’t do any of these. Maybe my faith is not strong enough. Still, it would be nice to have that kind of power. However, today Jesus reminds me that I have the power to serve others. Jesus not only performed miracles, but He also washed His disciples’ feet, and He reminded them that He didn’t come to be served but to serve others. After washing the disciples’ feet, Jesus said: “Do you realize what I have done for you? You call me ‘teacher’ and ‘master,’ and rightly so, for indeed I am. If I, therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another’s feet.” I may not have the power that will make miracles, but I do have the power to serve others. I still can be like Jesus, like my Lord and my Master in what I do to others.
