Monday of the Fifth Week in Ordinary Time ‘a’

As they were leaving the boat, people immediately recognized him. They scurried about the surrounding country and began to bring in the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was.” I am trying to imagine this scene: Jesus was already well recognizable and even famous for all the miracles He performed. Nobody wanted to miss His presence. Whatever was troubling them, whatever illness, fear, anxiety they had, they wanted to bring it all to Jesus because they believed that only He could free them and restore them to full health. “Whatever villages or towns or countryside he entered, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak; and as many as touched it were healed.” If you were there, you too would leave everything behind and just rush to see Jesus and bring to Him all of your troubles and concerns. However today is not much different. Christ is present in each Eucharist. Therefore, you can come to Him, see Him, talk to Him, touch Him, and more than that, you can receive Him in Holy Communion. We can bring to Him all that bothers us in this life, and He will help. Sadly, many Christians forget about this, they forget that Jesus is in our midst ready to help. We just need to believe, to leave everything behind and to come.
