Which are the most important commandments? These two -- loving God above anything else and then loving another person as ourselves. But that love must be expressed not by words only, but by our actions. We can’t tell God that we love Him and recite all kinds of prayers but then cheat, steal, gossip, or hurt other people. God wants us to express our love for Him and for another person by our actions. If we do that, we will remain in His love. Jesus said: “If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.” We know Jesus’ commandments; now we must practice them if we want to remain in that love.
