Pentecost Sunday

“On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’” Peace be with you -- in other words, don’t be terrified anymore, stop being confused, open the door, go out into the world, and tell them about me. On that day, on Pentecost, the disciples received peace and the Holy Spirit. After that night, they were no longer afraid to witness, to proclaim, to testify, and even to die for Christ. We too are called to proclaim, to testify, and to bring Christ to our world. And it is not easy since we can face rejection. That’s why we need to pray often and ask Jesus to give us the same Spirit, to give us internal peace, so that just like those first disciples, we could open the doors, go into the world, and bring with us Jesus and so not be afraid anymore.
