Saturday of the Fifth Week of Lent ‘b’

Some people become very popular or even famous for what they have accomplished, for who they are, or for being very rich. There are some very popular world leaders, church leaders, leaders of our country.  All of them have their followers, people who like them and support them, but at the same time there will be those who will criticize them or even hate them. There is even a division among us Catholics, and there are those who love our pope and those who criticize him for what he does and for what he says. The same division accompanied those people over two thousand years ago who were there close to Jesus, listening to Him speak, witnessing His miracles. Some believed in His words, and some got angry even to the point of killing Him for what He was saying. “Many of the Jews who had come to Mary and seen what Jesus had done began to believe in him. But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done.” We always will be divided - no matter what. Satan will always try to spread division among the nations and among God’s people. But we need to ask the Holy Spirit for the gift of wisdom that would enable us to believe in the Son of God.
