Saturday of the Second Week of Easter

Writer: Fr. KrisFr. Kris

There will be ‘strong winds’ coming our way and perhaps we have faced them already. There might be moments in life when we won’t know where to turn, how to start again, how to bear that heavy cross. Loss of a loved one, illness, war, pandemic, divorce, losing a job or a house. Strong winds will be coming; we need to be prepared to face them, to deal with them. How? We read today that when the disciples were in the boat, it was already dark and a strong wind was blowing. Just try to imagine, being in that small boat in the middle of the sea, with a black, dark, and strong wind…and all of a sudden, they see someone walking on the water -- “they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they began to be afraid. But he said to them, it is I. Do not be afraid.” Jesus is with us; we don’t need to be afraid of anything.
