The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ

Today in the Gospel the disciples urge Jesus: “Dismiss the crowd so that they can go to the surrounding villages and farms and find lodging and provisions; for we are in a deserted place here. He said to them, Give them some food yourselves.” Jesus doesn’t want them to go away, not even for a moment and similarly He doesn’t want you to go away from Him. He doesn’t want us to stay with him only during some specific moments of our lives but to keep Him close always. Therefore, He left us the sacrament of the Eucharist -- the food from heaven, that will help us keep Jesus in our heart all the time. “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them.” Jesus wants to be in your heart, He wants to be part of you, remain in you. We must make sure that Jesus is in us always, and we can never abandon Him. Jesus knows that only He can fulfill all our needs and satisfy all kinds of hunger. We don’t need to look anywhere else; we just need to make sure that He is in our hearts.
