If you were asked if you loved Jesus, I am sure you would respond -- yes, I do! Jesus asked us many times to love him, and today in the gospel reading He reminds us again -- remain in my love. However, Jesus is not asking for some emotional feeling toward Him, nor for our good declarations. But He tells us that, “If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.” So, it is not a matter of saying -- yes, I love You, Jesus, or repeating it in our daily prayers. Rather if we truly love Jesus, we need to follow His commandments. Only by implementing Jesus’s commandments into our lives and following them will they prove that we truly love our God.
