Do you consider yourself as being blessed? Jesus tells His disciples that they are blessed because they can see and hear the Son of God. They are blessed because they have been chosen to be Jesus’ first disciples. What an honor and privilege! Many before and many after would love to have experienced Jesus’ presence, but they have not. However, I believe that Jesus is speaking to you and me today using the same words: “blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear. Amen, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.” No, we didn’t see the Son of God in His human flesh, but we are blessed because we can see Him in the Holy Eucharist, we can hear Him speaking in the scriptures, and we can touch Him in another person. We are truly blessed!
