If you had a choice, would you rather be the master or the master’s servant? Most of us would like to be the master. The master is in charge. The master has a position, more money, more power. I would certainly like to be the master and not that poor servant. But we are reminded today in the Gospel that Christianity is a service, and a Christian is called to serve not to be served. We are reminded today that in this wounded world we are called to serve others in order to make this world a little better place. “We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.”
