Tuesday of the Holy Week

“Reclining at table with his disciples, Jesus was deeply troubled and testified, “’Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me.’" Can you imagine coming to Mass on Sunday, then approaching the altar to receive the Holy Communion, and then all the sudden instead of hearing ‘the Body of Christ’ you hear ‘one of you will betray me.’ How would you feel, what questions would you ask yourself, like - is it me? What does this mean? Why did he say that to me? No, it is not me, it must be that other person, I am a god Christian, I would never do that! In this Holy week when we are approaching the Passion of our Lord, it is easy for us to judge Judas for betraying the Lord, to judge Peter for denying Jesus, and all other disciples who got scared and ran away from Jesus’ cross. However, most of us are no different today. Because it is easy to declare our faith in the Lord when we all come to worship Him during Mass, when everybody shares the same beliefs. But it is much more difficult when our faith is tested, when we are persecuted, when others make fun of us, when we are tempted. There are times that we too betray the Lord. Luckily our God will always forgive us, just like He forgave Peter.
