Short gospel reading for today yet very meaningful and powerful. Someone told Jesus that His Mother and brothers wanted to see Him and He replied: “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and act on it.” We all are invited to have a close relationship with our Lord. We are invited to be members of His family and become His sisters and brothers, Mothers and Fathers. However, that comes with a price -- we must listen to the Word of God and act on it. So, we must do more than only read the bible, recite our prayers, receive the sacraments. We need to turn all of that into action. How? By bringing Jesus into the world, by bringing peace and hope and love of our neighbor. Only then will we become Jesus’ closest relatives.
