Wednesday of the Fifth Week in Ordinary Time ‘a’

We might often hear an excuse like this: I swore because he swore first, or I cheated because everybody does it, or I lied because she lied to me too, I steal because others do too. We Christians can’t behave like that. We can’t make excuses for our sinful behavior just because others misbehave. Jesus reminds us today that “nothing that enters one from outside can defile that person; but the things that come out from within are what defile.” So, to put it simply, we can’t blame the world, society, the politicians, priests, bishops, or anybody else for our anger, sin, misbehaving, and bad action. Only we are responsible for our actions. So, what is coming out from you, out of your heart -- the good or the bad?
