Wednesday of the Seventeenth Week in Ordinary Time ‘a’

What is your treasure? What is that which you really care about? It can be a relationship, and so you may consider your spouse, your child, a parent, or a friend to be that treasure that you are so thankful for. That treasure may also be a material thing, like a collection of coins, or that classic car you have, a motorcycle, your house, or jewelry that used to belong to your mother. We may own some things that have great value for us, and we want to hold on to those things, take care of them, and that is a good thing. However, have you ever considered your faith to be that great treasure that you have found? Sometimes we take this gift for granted. That’s why today Jesus invites us to think about and be thankful for that treasure that we have -- our faith. We do have a treasure, a great pearl that others can only desire and dream about. We are blessed with the gift of our faith.
