Wednesday of the Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time ‘a’

If someone gives you some money, let’s say you received a hundred dollars, what would you do with it? It is entirely up to you how you will spend it, or maybe you might even save it. When you were baptized, you received something that is worth more than any money of this world -- you received the gift of faith. However now it is up to you what you are going to do with that gift of faith. You may nurture it, take care of it, protect it from evil, feed it with the sacraments and scripture readings, spread it on to others, let it grow and enjoy it, or you can simply just let it be, without any further attention on your part. See, our faith is like that seed from Jesus’ parable -- it can be taken care of and grow, or it can fall among thorns, or on rocky ground or on the path and simply die. It is up to you what you will do with it.
