Wednesday of the Third Week of Easter ‘b’

We always want something, or we are hungry for something. And I am not talking only about food, but all kinds of other things. We desire material things, relationships, promotions, safety, love, peace. We all are hungry for something in life. However, there is nothing in this life that will fully satisfy our desires, and we will always want more and more. Today Jesus tells us that “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.” In other words, Jesus is saying that if you come to Him and if you believe in Him, then everything else in this life will become secondary, will no longer be that important. Recently I had visited an older person who was very sick and in pain, but even in the midst of her suffering she said -- this is nothing, I know that with Jesus I can go through everything, I believe that He will give me peace. “Whoever comes to me will never hunger.”
