“Jesus went up to the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer to God.” Jesus not only tells us how important prayer is, He is not only teaching us how to pray, but He gives us an example of His own perfect relationship with the Father. I may tell you that you must pray, but if I don’t pray myself, then I will be a hypocrite. Or if you remind your child of the importance of practicing their faith, but you yourself don’t really do that -- you will be a hypocrite. The words are important, but they must be led by example. Jesus is the best teacher of that. He taught us how to pray, He said that we need to pray. Now He shows us and gives us a prayer that was also essential in His life -- as “He spent the night in prayer to God.”
