Sixth Sunday of Easter ‘b’

There is always more joy if we share it with our friends. We may say that the joy that we experience multiplies when we share it with a friend. For example, a child was born, or you got that dream job, or got accepted to a great school, graduated, bought a new house -- you are very happy, so you want to spread that joy with your friends. You know that a true friend would never be envious but would rejoice with you. Today Jesus tells us that “I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father.” We are so privileged to be called Jesus’ friends, we are so honored that Jesus shared with us everything. But most importantly, we are blessed because Jesus shares with us His joy, and this joy is greater than any other joy that we can experience in this world. We are not slaves of our religion; we are God’s closest friends.
