Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time ‘b’

After Jesus freed the man from unclean spirit “all were amazed and asked one another, ‘What is this? A new teaching with authority. He commands even the unclean spirits and they obey him.’” A new teaching with authority - Jesus not only taught but He did so with authority. And those who witnessed what happened had never seen anything like that before. They had their teachers, scribes, scholars of the law, prophets, and they all had great knowledge. However, they were lacking authority. Jesus is God, and He had the power and authority like no one else. He wants us to talk about Him to others with authority, with faith, with power, with passion. It is by listening to different preachers that one can be filled with great faith and passion and would attract many people. Someone else preaches without passion, without faith in what he is preaching about. Today Jesus reminds us that we should teach about Him with passion, with faith, with power. If we do that, we will be able to accomplish great things and others will also be amazed.
