Friday of the 4 week in ordinary time ‘c’

John the Baptist was never afraid to tell the truth even when telling the truth and calling others to change their lives may have cost him his life. For him, the truth had a greater value than his life. And we know that he was beheaded only because he told king Herod: “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.” John the Baptist was ready to give up his life in order to protect moral values. Unfortunately, today many of us are too afraid to correct others, to tell them that the way they live is not morally OK, or even against our Church’s teachings. Today, many of us Christians want to be ‘politically correct’ and not speak up or protect our beliefs, faith, and traditions. We need to ask God to give us courage, so just like John the Baptist we will be able to defend the truth.
