Friday of the Third Week in Ordinary Time ‘b’

We often think that we need to somehow surprise God by our good and holy way of living. We think that it is our job to impress God and then He will reward us. That’s why many of us get overwhelmed with spiritual growth. There are times when we don’t see the results, we get bored with our prayers, we don’t hear back from God. Some even give up thinking that there is any growth at all. And why is that? It is because we don’t allow God to do His part of work. See, we can only grow and become holy when we cooperate with God’s graces. We can’t do anything on our own. We may try to impress God, but it won’t happen. Sooner or later, we will end up frustrated and disappointed. We need God’s graces in order to grow; we can’t do it on our own. “It is as if a man were to scatter seed on the land and would sleep and rise night and day and the seed would sprout and grow, he knows not how.” Let God do the work, invite Him to be there with you. Go to sleep, no worries, He will be there.
